Ulaanbaatar is a home to a new generation of Mongolian cinema. The new generation of Mongolian actors and artists have been actively participating in international cinema projects. Examples include R. Ankhnyam, who played the lead in Jean-Jacques Annaud’s “Wolf Totem”; B. Amarsaikhan, who played Arig Bukh in the Marco Polo TV series; and D. Byambasuren, the director of “The Story of the Weeping Camel”, “The Cave of the Yellow Dog”, and “Two Horses of Genghis Khan”, and who is currently living in Germany. All these artists were born and grew up in Ulaanbaatar.
